Welcome to RowAlong
This website and the RowAlong Workout videos on YouTube are entirely free. You won’t have to pay a penny for any of the content. And I hope that once you’ve had a look at both, you’ll agree that just because it’s free, doesn’t mean it’s not worth anything!
RowAlong is made up of two things
- RowAlong workouts – YouTube videos where I set the workout, the duration, the stroke rate and the pace, and I row it – while talking to you about the point of the workout, some things to think about when it comes to technique – but also random stuff like my dinner plans, and my history as a DJ and a drummer. All designed to motivate, distract and entertain you through a workout that can sometimes be longer than you may be used to.
These rows are often grouped into plans, or ‘series’. If you check the “Playlists” tab on YouTube, you’ll see collections like “Row off Food” – “Rowing for Gym Users” – “2000m Plan” – “10000m Plan” and “30 Days of 30 Minute Workouts” to mention just a few.
However, just because a row is part of a plan, that doesn’t mean you can’t row it as a “One off” session. Any of my workouts can be rowed at any time. You don’t need to row the entire plan or series.
- Hacks and Tips to row faster, or enjoy rowing more. From videos like “How to Stop Butt Pain” to “How to Row in Socks” then other “Get Stronger Abs” and “How to Connect your Apple Watch” – I try to cover the other aspects of indoor rowing too.
Where to Start
If you are a new rower, or someone who uses the Rowing Machine in the gym just for some Cardio variety, I recommend checking out my “Beginner Rowers” playlist first. That includes the videos in the Rowing for Gym Users – so you can look in there for some shorter, less demanding rows to get started.
Then, if you start to get more interested in how to improve technique to get a better workout, I suggest reading the “How to Row” page on this website (I’m in the process of making the video for this).
Once you’ve built up your fitness, and you’re ready to jump into something a bit more structured, you may want to look at the playlists like:
12 Rows of Christmas (you don’t have to row it at Christmas!)
Row off Food
Row Like Sports
30 Days of 30 Minute Rows
2000m Plan Original (which is similar to the Pete Plan) or Redux version
5000m Plan
10000m Plan
500m Plan
