Re: Fess up: What did you do on the machine today?

Of all the plans I've done (1k, 2k, 5k, and 10k) it's the 1k plan that I find the hardest, but also probably the most rewarding, and, because the workouts are so short, it's pretty manageable to fit in the workouts. I don't know if I'll commit to following it through again but I decided that I'd dip...

Re: The HOCR 4702 Winter Erg Challenge

I'll be excited to row with our new RA oars! When I registered it looked like there were 4 or 5 of us from RA who would be racing the HOCR.

Love it. Hate it. The 10k plan 40min push pace

This morning was my monthly row of the 10k 40min push pace workout. I've posted about my issues with this workout on Facebook in the past and this one still gets me. On the face of it this ones ticks all the boxes that I love, but man, it's always a tough one. It's the only one of all the workouts (...

Re: Early morning 14k aerobic and a Z3 HM

I should take my erg out on Monday when it's -20C and see what happens to my drag factor. Or not. That is actually an experiment I do not plan on doing.

Re: The HOCR 4702 Winter Erg Challenge

John,
I was looking at the HOCR page and saw most of teams had their colorful team blades shown alongside their names but RowAlong doesn't have a blade. Is that something that is particular to the RegattaCentral registration page? Anybody know how to get one?

Re: Hello From Brownhills UK

Nice to learn a bit about you Andrew! Eliminating the commute and working from home is definitely a boon to rowing! It will be fun to continue to push each other this year!

I still find it crazy that you met John at Disney...

Re: Rowing Machine Showdown

John, what you discovered has created a corollary to my Prime Directive for long term success, which is "When in doubt, do less (or go slower)." The rowing corollary is "When in doubt about your form, don't change." I don't know if I have perfect, let alone good, rowing form, but...

Re: Steady SPM and differentiated power

That's a good question. I'd like to think I don't change my form, but maybe I do. I did kinda-sorta try experimenting with a form change in this month's C2CTC event where we are rate-limited to 20spm; I tried pulling the handle up towards my neck in the first interval. It felt so unnatural, though, ...

Hello from Iowa, USA

Well, I'm re-introducing myself here (Thanks, John!) so I'll try to remember what I wrote last time... I grew up a competitive soccer (football for everyone outside the US) player but then got into bike racing and then running in college. In my 30s I did a lot of trailrunning and ultramarathons. The...
