Longer rowerg sessions

Over the period I have been asked how I approach rowing longer sessions daily on a rowerg. So here are my 10 cents on what works for me. A Concept 2 model D, PM5 rowerg arrived as a post X'mas present at my doorstep. Not that row ergometers or rowing on water were new to me, I just never owned one b...

Rates of Calorie burn and recovery

(Not sure if this is the right place to post) Since 3 weeks I own my own C2 after having rowed for a couple of decades on others' machines. Rowing to me provides a form of meditation and yoga and I tend to spend longer times on it with anywhere between 1-3 hours per session. Am looking for stroke ef...

Re: Early morning easy Z2 HM

Ever since that previous post (or more precisely Jan 1st) have done Half Marathons and occasional Full Marathon per day using EXR, and rowing at different focus areas (breathing, back, legs drive, arms shoulders etc), and techniques (wide vs narrow handgrip, short vs long stroke length, lazy vs shar...

Early morning 14k aerobic and a Z3 HM

Calm and quiet waters this morning, not many europeans waking their dragon early. 8-) Did a 1hr 14k and then a HM at Z3. Tried new breathing technique , with some success. Want to build up some endurance. ;) Much easier on the calorie burn rate with ambient temp around the C2 at about 1C. Interestin...

Re: This is me.

Mark, nice to read.
Not sure though if a full marathon as a birthday present would make me happy, the result would, the exercise not?! :D

Early morning easy Z2 HM

Early morning easy Z2 Half Marathon (on a C2, model D, PM5) using EXR. Bloody cold ambient temp of -3C at the ERG , which sits in my barn, and with a cold stint in NL, makes a Z2 not soo comfortable. Couldn't get my feet warm. Lots of Aussies around.. 8-) Aiming for the C2 long haul this month (1hr+...

RowAlong workouts in EXR?

Would be great if your RowAlong workout videos could be available as a workout in EXR.
That way, one could use the stroke rate indicator and row on some EXR water, and then popout your youtube video and overlay that on EXR.

Re: Rowing Machine Showdown

It was a most interesting and indeed revealing post. You were stating that the deep layback stroke can be done for a short while, yet is unhealthy as ordinary stroke style ("You will get injured)" I don't like that deep layback business at all (in fact i don't care as much about speed, as ...

Steady SPM and differentiated power

What aspects of the rowing stroke do people change, and in what order, when they row at fixed stroke rate (say 23 spm) and vary their power at that same fixed stroke rate? Do you vary stroke length, motion speed, catch, leg range of motion, vs arms & back etc? It seems easy and natural that with...

From the high 'n dry Dutch famrgrounds

When I was 18 (over 35 years ago that is), I used to play field hockey at national levels. A silly accident meant torn-off inside and outside ligaments of both ankles, so that was goodbye to that. Went to uni and needed something to replace hockey, rowing it was. Rowed lightweight international race...
